Job summary

Maddocks in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Associate / Special Counsel to join our Public Law team. The role focuses on providing advice and disputes for clients in government and the private sector, with emphasis on compulsory acquisition, compensation, planning matters, land valuation and local government rating.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in private practice/government.
• Exposure to compulsory acquisition/compensation, valuation and/or planning and environment law is valued.
• Disputes experience at VCAT and/or the Supreme Court is desirable.
• Experience supervising junior lawyers and strong drafting/communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice and conduct disputes for government and private sector clients in compulsory acquisition, compensation and planning matters.
• Assist with land valuation, local government rating matters and related disputes.
• Supervise and mentor junior lawyers within the team.
