Job summary

Maddocks in Canberra is seeking a full-time Associate or Senior Associate (4-8 year PQE) front-end construction, contracts and procurement lawyer to join our Canberra real estate and construction team. You will work with clients including government, developers and major construction companies on practical and commercial advice.

You'll have opportunities to progress your career, work with senior partners and clients, and gain training in a supportive close-knit team, with occasional cross-work

About The Role

We are currently looking for a full-time Associate or Senior Associate (4-8 year PQE) front-end construction, contracts and procurement Lawyer to join our Canberra real estate and construction. Our construction team is well recognised across our three offices for its work for all levels of government, major construction companies and developers for practical and commercial advice. In Canberra, the two partners have a strong government sector focus to our work, which sees us advising on construction, infrastructure and development projects in the ACT, across the country and internationally in the Pacific. In this role you will further progress your career whilst working with a supportive, close knit team. You will be afforded excellent training as you will have the opportunity to work closely with senior team members, partners and clients on interesting and high quality work.

Many members of the team work across both the construction and real estate/property side of the practice. It is not mandatory that you be experienced in both, but there are opportunities to work across both areas if this is the work mix you are looking for in your next role.

About You

• Currently be working as a front-end lawyer in a construction or projects team or have strong commercial/contracting and procurement experience that could be applied to the construction sector
• Have strong technical legal skills and a genuine interest in working in the construction and infrastructure sector
• Have a client-focused approach with a sound understanding of commercial drivers
• Be able to demonstrate exceptional contract and advice drafting skills
• Be an independent thinker, comfortable learning new concepts quickly
