Job summary

Charterhouse seeks a Senior Integration Developer to drive API-led and event-driven integration within a major Federal Government transformation program. You will shape the first enterprise microservices foundations and AI-enabled engineering practices across the software delivery lifecycle.

Work spans API gateways, cloud-native services, and messaging technology, delivering secure, scalable connections between applications, platforms, and external services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing and developing API-led and event-driven integration solutions.
• Strong experience with microservices architecture.
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON/XML and OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Experience with API gateways and common service integration patterns.
• Knowledge of messaging and event-driven technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Service Bus or Event Grid.
• Containerisation and orchestration experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Development experience using .NET, Java, Node.js or Python.
• Understanding of secure integration and identity, including OAuth2, OpenID Connect and JWT.
• Experience with managed identities and secure service-to-service communication.
• CI/CD, automated testing, DevSecOps and observability.
• Strong communication skills with architects, developers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and support API-led and event-driven integration solutions.
• Build secure and scalable integrations between applications, platforms and external services.
• Develop solutions using cloud-native services, messaging technologies and event-driven patterns.
• Collaborate with architects, technical leads, developers and business stakeholders.
• Translate business requirements into high-quality technical and integration solutions.
• Apply modern engineering practices across DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing and observability.
• Support API-first design, microservices and reusable integration patterns.
• Contribute to platform engineering standards and continuous improvement; mentor team members and share knowledge across the engineering function.
