Job summary

Westpac is seeking a Senior AI Engineer – Agent Ops to lead and scale AI capabilities across the enterprise. You will design, build, test, deploy and operate robust AI services, mentoring engineers and shaping patterns for production-ready solutions.

Based in a hybrid role with on-site days, you will collaborate with product, platform, data, risk and security teams to ensure safe, observable and resilient AI at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, build, test, harden and operate AI capabilities at enterprise scale.
• Engineer robust LLM, retrieval‑augmented generation, agentic and orchestration solutions with reliability, evaluation, observability and governance.
• Take AI capabilities from experimentation to production, including testing, deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Partner with product, platform, data, risk, security and business teams to scale AI safely and sustainably.
• Review designs and code, mentor engineers and establish reusable patterns.
