Job summary

Westpac is hiring a Senior AI Engineer Agent Ops to design, build, and run AI agents, shared platforms, APIs and enterprise integrations. You will lead 3 to 6 direct reports and coach engineers while strengthening AI/LLM practices across the stack.

The role is hybrid, based in Sydney or Melbourne, with flexible locations by agreement. Strong coding, production AI experience and cloud + Kubernetes skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

Strong coding fundamentals and clean production code experience.
Hands-on production experience with generative AI agents and orchestration.
Experience deploying, observing and supporting AI services in production.
Knowledge of secure engineering and guardrails for AI systems.

Responsibilities

Design, build and run AI agents, shared platforms, APIs and enterprise integrations.
Coach engineers, lead design and code reviews to improve AI/LLM operations.
Lead orchestration, observability and end-to-end ownership of services.
