Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting a passionate SEN/SEMH Teacher for a specialist school in Croydon. You will deliver differentiated lessons to students aged 6-19 with ASC, ADHD, SEMH and related needs, fostering academic, emotional, and social development in a safe, structured environment.

You will work with a supportive leadership team in small classes, using EHCPs and personalised learning plans to drive progress and positive outcomes for vulnerable learners.

Qualifications

• A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) or experienced SEN educator.
• Confident working with children and young people with complex needs.
• Skilled in behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Patient, empathetic, and resilient under pressure.
• Passionate about making a difference in alternative/special education.
• Able to adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver creative, accessible lessons across KS1-KS5.
• Support students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and additional learning needs.
• Implement behaviour support strategies and personalised learning plans (EHCPs).
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and progress.
• Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and senior leaders.
• Track progress and contribute to reviews and reporting.
• Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive outcomes for all learners.

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate, resilient and dedicated SEN/SEMH Teacher to join a specialist school in Croydon supporting children and young people aged 6-19 with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and associated learning difficulties.

You will be delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet a wide range of abilities while supporting students to develop academically, emotionally, and socially in a safe and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver creative, accessible lessons across KS1-KS5
• Support students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and additional learning needs
• Implement behaviour support strategies and personalised learning plans (EHCPs)
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and progress
• Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and senior leaders
• Track progress and contribute to reviews and reporting
