Job summary

The Canterbury Hospital Security Staff (Security Officer) role is a casual position within Sydney Local Health District, offering a dedicated service to keep staff, patients and visitors safe.

Key responsibilities include patrolling, monitoring access and alarms, and protecting hospital assets 24/7, on a rotating roster. Applicants must hold a Class 1A Security Licence and Senior First Aid certification, plus experience with CCTV systems. NSW Health vaccination and compliant policies apply.

Qualifications

• Licensed according to the Security Industry Act 1997 – Class 1A with current Senior First Aid certificate.
• Experience and knowledge of electronic systems such as alarm monitoring, access control and CCTV surveillance.
• Ability to perform shift work on a 24 x 7 rotating roster.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of staff, patients and visitors.
• Protect hospital assets and participate in crime prevention and risk minimisation.
• Operate across a 24/7 rotating roster to maintain security coverage.

About the Role

Since opening in 1929 our hospital continues to grow to meet the changing needs of our community and incorporate new models of care.

The Security Department provides a 24-hour Security Service. The primary objectives of the Security Staff at Canterbury Hospital are to ensure the safety of staff, patients and visitors as well as the protection of hospital assets. Security Staff have a duty of care of all patients, staff and visitors to the hospital and are required to participate in crime prevention, deterrence initiatives and risk minimisation strategies.

• Licenced according to the Security Industry Act 1997 – Class 1 A with current Senior First Aid Certificate.
• Previous experience and knowledge of electronic systems such as alarm monitoring systems, access control and CCTV surveillance.
