Job summary

Millennium Services Group is seeking a Security Officer for a high security government environment in Melbourne. The role involves access control, CCTV monitoring, incident response, and frontline security duties to protect people, property, and assets. Casual position with day and night shifts, including weekends.

Candidates must hold a current Security Licence, an active NV1 clearance, and First Aid/ CPR certification. Previous Defence/government security experience is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage arrival and departure of personnel, visitors and contractors on site.

• Maintain accurate visitor/ contractor registers and records.
• Maintain professional security presence and follow site procedures.

About The Role

As a Security Officer in a high security government environment, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe, secure, and professional environment while delivering exceptional customer service. This position involves a combination of access control, cctv monitoring and surveillance, incident response, and front-line security duties. You will be responsible for protecting people, property, and assets while ensuring all security procedures and site requirements are consistently followed.

Shifts: Day and Night Shifts | Weekdays and Weekends

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the arrival and departure of personnel, visitors, and contractors on site.
• Maintain accurate visitor and contractor registers and records.
• Issue and manage access control credentials, including visitor and contractor passes.
• Monitor and review CCTV footage, including accessing historical footage when required.
• Operate walk-through and handheld metal detection equipment.
• Maintain a professional, approachable, and highly visible security presence.
• Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, incidents, emergencies, and requests for assistance.
• Identify, assess, and manage security risks in accordance with site procedures and company policies.
• Ensure compliance with all site-specific and organisational security protocols.
• Complete incident reports and maintain accurate records and documentation.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• A current and valid Security Licence.
• An active NV1 Security Clearance (essential).
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Previous experience in a government or Defence security environment.
• Availability to work a rotating roster consisting of day and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
• The ability to work independently while adhering to established procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proven track record of reliability, professionalism, and punctuality.
• Full Australian working rights.
• Defence Force veterans and ex-service personnel are strongly encouraged to apply.

Candidates will also be required to complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA)
