Job summary

St John of God Murdoch Hospital is seeking Security Officers to provide a comprehensive security service across the Murdoch campus, including traffic and parking management. The role offers casual and permanent full-time positions with rotating 12-hour shifts and penalties under the Enterprise Agreement.

Successful candidates will hold a current Security Officer and Security Monitoring Officer Licence plus a First Aid Certificate, with strong communication and reporting skills and experience

Job description

At St John of God Murdoch Hospital our reputation for excellence in clinical care and first class tertiary level services makes us the hospital of choice for both medical professionals and patients.

Since opening in 1994, the hospital has grown to include 525 beds, 18 operating theatres, an Emergency Department, dedicated cancer care centre, WA’s largest standalone endoscopy unit and a dedicated Day Procedure Unit.

We provide high-quality services for our community across emergency care, maternity services, orthopaedic surgery and integrated cancer care.

About the role

We are seeking Security Officers to join our team. In this role, you will provide a comprehensive security service, helping to maintain a safe and secure environment for caregivers, patients, visitors, and contractors. You will also be responsible for traffic and parking management across the Murdoch hospital site, ensuring compliance with site procedures, policies, and operational directives.

Opportunities are available on both a Casual and Permanent Full-time basis.

Permanent Security Officers work a rotating roster of four consecutive 12-hour shifts followed by four days off, providing excellent work-life balance. Applicable shift penalties and allowances apply in accordance with the relevant Enterprise Agreement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a visible security presence to maintain a safe and secure hospital environment.
• Assist in ensuring the safety of caregivers, patients, visitors and contractors.
• Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents and emergencies.
• Monitor and control access, traffic flow and parking across the hospital site.
• Enforce site security procedures, policies and directives.
• Deliver excellent customer service while supporting a welcoming environment for all site users.
• Provide after-hours operational support, including facility patrols, equipment monitoring and responding to urgent service requests.
• Assist with patient, visitor and hospital support services, including escorts, transport tasks and other duties as directed by hospital management.

Your skills and experience

Successful candidates will hold a current Security Officer and Security Monitoring Officer Licence , along with a current First Aid Certificate. You will possess strong communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and problem-solving skills, be proficient in report writing and computer systems, and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Experience in security operations, including a sound working knowledge of CCTV, electronic access systems, fire panels, detection equipment and control room environments, is essential. You will be confident working in a fast-paced environment and committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and caregivers.

Previous experience in a healthcare security setting, together with knowledge of workplace health and safety practices and training in de-escalation and aggression management, will be highly regarded.

We can offer you

• Salary: $77,239 to $80,741 per annum, plus 12% superannuation. Applicable shift penalties and additional allowances apply in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement.
• Casual hourly rate: $48.70 to $50.91 per hour (incl. 25% casual loading), plus 12% superannuation
• Casual positions and Permanent full-time positions available
