Job summary

NSW Health at Blacktown Hospital is seeking a Security Officer to help protect patients, staff and visitors across the hospital precinct. You will patrol the grounds, respond to incidents, and support a 24/7 security service across Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospital precincts.

The role requires a NSW Security Licence Class 1A, Senior First Aid, and a valid Australian Driver’s Licence. You will work in a busy hospital environment, with opportunities for overtime, and a 20-hour weekly schedule.

Qualifications

• Licensed according to the Security Industry Act 1997, Current NSW Security Licence Class 1A.
• Current Senior First Aid Certificate.
• Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia.
• Demonstrate intermediate level computer operating skills with security systems.
• Customer service skills with integrity and motivation, ability to perform physical tasks as listed.
• Ability to work in a team, follow directions, and work with limited supervision.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution and report writing abilities.

What you'll be doing

As a Security Officer, you will provide a professional and responsive security service across the hospital precinct. You will play an important role in protecting people and assets while supporting a safe environment for healthcare delivery.

Conduct internal and external security patrols and drive the security vehicle when required

Respond promptly to requests for assistance, incidents and hospital emergency codes

Provide escorts and protection services for staff, patients and visitors

Monitor CCTV, access control and security systems, and complete accurate incident reports and logs

Assist with security audits, equipment testing, risk assessments and safety initiatives

Selection Criteria

Licensed according to the Security Industry Act 1997 Current NSW Security Licence Class 1A.

Current Senior First Aid Certificate.

Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia.

Demonstrate intermediate level computer operating skills e.g. through experience with contemporary electronic security alarm monitoring systems (Access building control, CCTV surveillance, data entry, and Radio communications).

Customer service skills with a high degree of personal integrity and motivation and willingness and ability to carry out tasks of a physical nature as described in Job Demand List.

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, follow directions and work without close supervision.

Sound communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution and report writing skills. Skills related to escalating a problem to the appropriate line of management.
