Job summary

Vineria Luisa in Enmore/Sydney is seeking an experienced Section Waiter/Sommelier to join our front-of-house team. The role involves managing a designated section, delivering polished service and guiding guests through wine selections and pairings.

We offer a full-time role with a salary of AU$79,000–AU$85,000 per year plus superannuation, with opportunities for training, career progression within Maestro Hospitality and staff discounts.

Qualifications

• A hospitality qualification such as AQF Certificate III in Hospitality (Restaurant Front of House) or Diploma of Hospitality Management
• 1–3 years' relevant front-of-house experience (Section Waiter or Sommelier)
• Full working rights in Australia
• Experience managing your own section in a premium restaurant
• Strong knowledge of wine service and food and wine pairing
• Experience confidently recommending and selling wines and other beverages
• Strong knowledge of restaurant service procedures and sequence of service
• Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
• Current NSW RSA certificate
• Experience using restaurant POS systems
• Strong attention to detail and professional presentation
• Ability to stay composed in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills and guest rapport
• Availability across a seven-day roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a designated restaurant section during lunch and dinner service
• Provide professional, attentive and knowledgeable food and beverage service
• Welcome guests, build rapport and contribute to a memorable dining experience
• Explain menu items, ingredients, preparation methods and daily specials
• Provide knowledgeable wine recommendations and food and wine pairing advice
• Assist guests in navigating the wine list and selecting wines suited to their preferences
• Present, open, decant and serve wine to professional standards
• Maintain knowledge of the wine list, beverages and food menu
• Take and process food and beverage orders using the venue's POS system
• Identify and communicate allergies and dietary requirements with kitchen and management
• Monitor guest satisfaction and respond to requests or concerns
• Maintain glassware, service equipment and beverage stations
• Assist with wine storage, stock rotation and cellar organisation
• Prepare and maintain the section before, during and after service
• Ensure bills are accurate and payments processed
• Collaborate with management, sommeliers, section waiters and kitchen teams
• Comply with NSW RSA, food safety, and company policies
• Contribute to achieving sales and guest satisfaction goals
