Job summary

Matrix Education in Sydney, NSW seeks a Science Faculty Lead to own health, performance and reputation of Science across Matrix campuses. You will build a capable team, set curriculum standards, and sign off on academic resources while staying connected with classrooms through ongoing teaching.

You will lead through others, maintain high standards, and collaborate with Marketing and Experience teams to support enrolment and student success.

Qualifications

• Deep subject-matter expertise ideally with a strong HSC or VCE teaching track record and credibility among educators.
• Demonstrated experience developing teams, including handling tough performance conversations.
• Comfortable interpreting student analytics, retention trends and SEQ data to make real decisions.

Responsibilities

• Teaching quality and team capability.
• Set clear pedagogical standards across all campuses for consistent, high‑quality delivery.
• Build a scalable coaching model that develops your senior teachers and Team Lead(s) and expands their leadership capacity.
• Partner with People and Culture on talent acquisition and pipeline strategy for casual teachers and tutors and maintain strong alumni engagement.
• Maintain a culture that keeps casual teacher performance, satisfaction and retention high.
• Teach at least three hours a week to stay connected to the student experience.
• Student outcomes and experience.
• Achieve strong learning gains and formal exam performance across all campuses.
• Monitor Course Health analytics to catch disengaged cohorts early and deploy support.
• Analyse SEQ trends and direct coaching adjustments where needed.
• Manage complex academic escalations keeping parents' trust and students engaged.
• Set the strategic vision for the subject, ensuring full alignment with syllabus requirements.
• Sign-off on major curriculum architecture, assessment models and exam materials.
• Give Curriculum Development team useful feedback that improves publishing output.
• Design assignments and mock exams that anticipate real exam trends.
• Plan and execute structural changes to our academic products to stay best-in-class.
• Track national syllabus changes to stay ahead.
