Job summary

Matrix Education in Sydney seeks a Mathematics Faculty Lead to own the health and performance of Mathematics across campuses and to build a capable team of teachers and senior tutors. You will set curriculum direction, approve academic resources, and represent the faculty to Marketing and Customer Experience.

Qualifications

• Deep subject-matter expertise with a strong HSC or VCE teaching track record and credibility among educators.
• Tertiary qualification in Education, or a discipline related to your faculty.
• Demonstrated experience developing teams, ideally teams of educators, including handling tough performance conversations.
• Comfortable interpreting student analytics, retention trends and SEQ data to make real decisions.

Responsibilities

• Teaching quality and team capability.
• Set clear pedagogical standards across all campuses for consistent, high-quality delivery.
• Build a scalable coaching model that develops senior teachers and team leads.
• Partner with People and Culture on talent acquisition and pipeline strategy for casual teachers and tutors; maintain alumni engagement.
• Maintain a culture that keeps casual teacher performance, satisfaction and retention high.
• Teach at least three hours a week to stay connected to the student experience.
• Achieve strong learning gains and formal exam performance across all campuses.
• Monitor Course Health analytics to catch disengaged cohorts early and deploy support.
• Sign-off on major curriculum architecture, assessment models and exam materials.
• Establish and maintain Matrix’ academic authority in your faculty with Marketing and Customer Experience.
