Job summary

Queensland Department of Education – Edens Landing State School in Brisbane seeks a permanent part-time Social Worker to support students’ wellbeing and education from January 2027.

Within the Wellbeing Workforce, you will deliver counselling, welfare assessments and referrals, collaborating with school staff and families to promote mental health and positive learning outcomes. Flexible arrangements and supervision are provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counselling to students, parents and families to help address personal challenges and relationship concerns.
• Conduct social welfare assessments, deliver appropriate interventions and provide follow‑up support to students and their families.
• Identify support needs and coordinate referrals to relevant community services, including health and welfare agencies, while building stronger connections between families, the school and the wider community.
• Develop, coordinate and deliver programs and presentations that promote parent and community engagement and raise awareness of social issues affecting students' learning.
• Monitor and evaluate school‑based programs, assist with responses to critical incidents, maintain confidential student records and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and community networks.
