Job summary

Queensland Department of Education in Brisbane is seeking experienced Social Workers to join the Metro South Wellbeing workforce, delivering evidence-based mental health support to students and families across multiple schools.

You will assess wellbeing, provide counselling, connect families to external services, and contribute to safety planning in the school context, with flexible hours across special, primary and high schools.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Social Work
• Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
• Current QLD drivers' licence
• Flexible, student-centred approach
• Commitment to inclusive, community-driven wellbeing practices

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based therapeutic support to students with mild to moderate mental health needs
• Assess student wellbeing and inform interventions
• Deliver individual and group counselling to students and families
• Develop safety plans for students who are self-harming or at risk of suicide
• Coordinate referrals and liaise with external agencies
• Support school leadership and student support teams in planning and delivery of services
• Provide guidance to families to support student wellbeing
• Assist in responding to critical incidents and emergencies in schools
