Job summary

Surf Coast Secondary College in Torquay, VIC is seeking a part-time Buildings & Grounds Maintenance Manager to oversee daily maintenance, grounds care, and contract works two days per week with potential for extension.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, coordination of service contractors, and strong knowledge of OH&S. The position may increase hours from 27/01/2027 and involves reporting to Business Manager or Principal and aligning with school policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to undertake hands-on maintenance tasks.
• Ability to manage and coordinate service contractors.
• Knowledge of OH&S and risk management procedures.
• Ability to respond to emergency situations.
• Ability to prepare quotes and timelines for contract work.
• Ability to develop budgets and proposals for building and capital works.

Responsibilities

• Daily unlock and disarm of all College buildings at 7:00am.
• Regular garden and grounds maintenance including mowing, weeding, rubbish removal.
• Schedule and document maintenance activities including essential services and fire safety.
• Manage and coordinate service contractors ensuring works comply with WHS and minimal disruption.
• Prepare quotes and timelines for contract work.
• Assist with budget planning for buildings and capital works.
• Identify renewal needs for furniture and equipment and coordinate related contracts.
• Respond to service requests for breakdowns and repairs and keep records.
• Maintain OH&S records and ensure compliance.
• Support events planning and school activities with facilities readiness.
