Job summary

The Department of Education Victoria is seeking a Range 3 Facilities and Grounds role to manage the upkeep of Willmott Park Primary School’s buildings and outdoor spaces in Craigieburn. You will coordinate maintenance, oversee external contractors and ensure safety standards are met.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on maintenance skills, strong OHS knowledge and the ability to engage with staff, students and service providers to achieve reliable outcomes.

Qualifications

• SC1: Demonstrated experience in maintenance and groundskeeping with a focus on safe, well-maintained environments.
• SC2: Ability to work independently on regular maintenance, projects, and coordinating contractors.
• SC3: Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and risk management practices.
• SC4: Strong interpersonal skills when working with staff, students, visitors and contractors.
• SC5: Ability to provide proactive advice to management on hazards, tasks and cost-savings.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate use and maintenance of school buildings and equipment per policy.
• Engage external contractors, negotiate service quality and costs, supervise contracted work.
• Order and purchase goods, ensure equipment and materials are maintained and secured.
• Conduct maintenance inspections of buildings and grounds, implement cyclical programs.
• Undertake hands-on garden maintenance to support daily operations.
• Respond promptly to staff repair requests related to furniture, fixtures, lighting and infrastructure.
• Operate within AVHS strategic direction, reporting tasks and priorities to leadership.
