Job summary

Victorian Government is seeking a multi-skilled Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Officer to support Gaayip-Yagila Primary School in Melbourne in a multi-faceted role including gardening, building and grounds upkeep. The role requires flexibility, attendance during holiday breaks, and capacity to work with education staff to maintain safe, well-kept grounds.

Experience in landscape duties, building maintenance and awareness of OH&S requirements is valued.

Qualifications

• SC1: Demonstrated capacity to perform duties consistent with established guidelines and frameworks, including coordinating and supporting others in respect to specific work functions relevant to the role.
• SC2: Demonstrated capacity to work and collaborate with others in a team environment.
• SC3: Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively in a team environment, including high level oral and written communication skills.
• SC4: Possess the technical knowledge and expertise relevant to the position.
• SC5: Demonstrated capacity to provide advice and support to management and other school staff in respect to the work area.

Responsibilities

• Perform various landscape and seasonal garden duties including gardening, blowing leaves, planting and weeding.
• Coordinate the maintenance of school buildings and equipment, including gutter and roof cleaning, repairing and maintaining school building fixtures and fittings
• Support minor project development on grounds and in buildings.
• Move furniture and equipment
• Minor cleaning
• Check the school perimeters and playground equipment on a regular basis to ensure the grounds are safe.
• Keep storage facilities clean and tidy.
