Job summary

NSW Department of Education is seeking a School Counsellor to be based at Melonba High School, with opportunities to work across primary and high school aged students. You will provide counselling and psychological assessments to support learning, wellbeing, and mental health needs, collaborating with teachers and external partners within a multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasises professional supervision, ongoing professional development, and enabling registration with the Psychology Board

Qualifications

• Experience in counselling using evidence-based interventions
• Experience in psychological assessment of children and young people including case formulation and report writing
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes for diverse students
• Must be registered or provisionally registered or eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
• Ability and willingness to travel between worksites with a valid driver’s licence

Responsibilities

• Provide counselling and psychological assessment of students
• Collaborate with school staff and external agencies to support student wellbeing
• Contribute to continuing professional development and supervision within the school counselling service
