Job summary

Location Profile Outdoor School in Victoria is seeking a Catering Assistant to work with the Catering Manager, ensuring meals are prepared and served as part of the school program. You will report to the Catering Manager and may assist in guiding other staff within the work area to meet required standards.

The role involves basic cooking tasks, kitchen hygiene, and assisting with food preparation and ordering for main meals and desserts, with opportunities to learn the Catering Manager’s role

Qualifications

• SC1 Demonstrated experience in a commercial or busy kitchen environment.
• SC2 Demonstrated high-level verbal and written communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills including a capacity to develop constructive relationships with staff, students and visitors.
• SC3 Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning to enable further development of knowledge and skills.
• SC4 Proven ability to function reliably with limited direct oversight, organising workflow, prep and service tasks in a busy catering environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out allocated activities and tasks determined by the school consistent with role description.
• Participate in planning and preparation with staff on a regular basis.
• Participate in professional learning activities provided through the workplace.
• Participate in the ongoing evaluation of the workplace.
