Job description

Are you a commercially driven leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and is passionate about driving sales performance through people? We are looking for an experienced Sales Manager to lead, inspire and develop our sales team while delivering sustainable growth, operational excellence and an outstanding shopping experience for our customers. Drawing on your deep understanding of retail, local market opportunities and commercial priorities, you will play a key role in turning challenges into opportunities and creating a high-performing culture that delivers results.

The Sales function is responsible for creating an enjoyable, convenient and successful shopping experience that leads to increased sales, customer satisfaction and long-term profitability. We achieve this by optimising sales priorities, delivering commercial activities, understanding local customer needs and ensuring the IKEA offer is relevant, inspiring and easy to buy across all sales channels.

As the Sales Manager, you will lead and inspire your team to optimise the shopping experience and drive commercial performance across your areas of responsibility. You will use your knowledge of the IKEA range, local market conditions, customer behaviour and retail trends to identify opportunities, close performance gaps and improve productivity. Through strong leadership, agility and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, you will create the conditions for people and the business to succeed while delivering profitable growth.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring a consistent, seamless and positive customer experience across all sales channels.
  • Driving agile responses to changing business needs, promotional activities and in-store commercial opportunities to achieve business targets and KPIs.
  • Conducting retail topic reviews, analysing customer behaviour and business performance to identify opportunities and implement actions that improve commercial outcomes.
  • Collaborating closely with internal functions and external stakeholders, including shopping centre partners to maximise customer reach and business opportunities.
  • Ensuring the right number of co-workers are in the right place at the right time to meet our customers through effective workforce planning and rostering practices.
  • Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing team while building capability, fostering engagement and creating a strong succession pipeline.

You are a resilient and commercial retail leader with extensive sales leadership experience, ideally gained as a Senior Shopkeeper, Deputy Sales Manager or similar role within a large-format retail environment. You are passionate about creating business through people and have a proven ability to lead teams through change while maintaining a strong focus on customers, sales performance and operational excellence. You are comfortable challenging the status quo, identifying opportunities to improve productivity and implementing actions that drive measurable results. You are known for your ability to make things happen through flexibility, speed and simplicity. You build strong relationships with stakeholders, inspire confidence in your team and bring a positive mindset focused on solutions and continuous improvement.

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

  • Extensive leadership experience in sales ideally as a Senior Shopkeeper, Deputy Sales Manager or Sales Manager.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success in driving sales, profitability, productivity and business performance.
  • Ability to identify performance gaps, develop concrete action plans and successfully execute improvements.
  • Ability to lead with agility and adapt quickly to changing customer and business needs.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, including experience collaborating with external business partners.
  • Proven experience leading and developing people while building engaged, high-performing teams.
