Buildfix Group is expanding in Melbourne and seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer for inspections and repair design. You will diagnose structural issues on residential properties and develop practical, cost-effective repair solutions, working autonomously with Buildfix’s team to deliver results.

Travel across Melbourne and occasional interstate travel are involved. You will join a close-knit team, using our advanced mobile software to schedule inspections and manage client relations, while

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and membership of Engineers Australia.
• Strong practical knowledge of building construction, structural movement and defects.
• Ability to explain technical issues clearly and propose repair solutions.
• Self-motivated with initiative and problem-solving mindset.
• Excellent communication to manage customers, trades and technicians.

Responsibilities

• Inspect residential properties to diagnose structural issues and propose non-invasive repair options.

About the Role

• Structural Assessments – Inspect mainly residential properties, diagnose structural issues and develop practical, cost-effective, non-invasive repair solutions for everyday Melburnians.
• Build Trust & Manage Customer Relationships – Explain suitable repair methods, their benefits, limitations and costs. Build trust, follow up proposals and turn leads into confirmed work, with the satisfaction of helping customers who value your expertise and appreciate your effort.

You’ll work under the guidance and support of Chris Brown, our National Engineering Manager, who is a structural engineer based in Sydney. Your work will take you across Melbourne, with travel to surrounding areas during busy periods and occasional interstate travel.

What We’re Looking For

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, membership of Engineers Australia and proven structural inspection experience.
• Strong practical knowledge of building construction, structural movement and defects.
• The confidence to explain technical issues simply, design suitable repair solutions and win the customer’s trust.
• A highly driven, self‑motivated individual who takes initiative, follows through and enjoys solving problems, providing real help for customers.
• Strong communication and the ability to manage customers, trades and technicians professionally.
• A high‑performing individual who understands that greater rewards come from consistent effort, strong results and delivering real value to customers.
• Enthusiasm for learning specialist repair methods and contributing to a business that challenges conventional thinking.
• A current Australian driver’s licence and willingness to travel for assessments and training.
