Job summary

Buildfix Group is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to perform inspections and design repairs for residential properties across Melbourne. You will diagnose structural issues and develop practical, cost-effective solutions while building strong client relationships and managing expectations.

You’ll work with Buildfix’s team and travel as needed for assessments, training and project delivery, enjoying autonomy and opportunities to grow technical expertise.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and membership of Engineers Australia.
• Proven structural inspection experience and strong knowledge of building construction, movement and defects.
• Ability to explain technical issues clearly and win customer trust.

Responsibilities

• Inspect mainly residential properties, diagnose structural issues and develop cost-effective repair solutions.
• Explain repair methods, benefits, limitations and costs; build trust and close proposals.
• Travel across Melbourne and occasional interstate travel for assessments and training.

About the Role

Structural Assessments – Inspect mainly residential properties, diagnose structural issues and develop practical, cost-effective, non-invasive repair solutions for everyday Melburnians.

You’ll work under the guidance and support of Chris Brown, our National Engineering Manager, who is a structural engineer based in Sydney. Your work will take you across Melbourne, with travel to surrounding areas during busy periods and occasional interstate travel.

What We’re Looking For

A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, membership of Engineers Australia and proven structural inspection experience.

Strong practical knowledge of building construction, structural movement and defects.

The confidence to explain technical issues simply, design suitable repair solutions and win the customer’s trust.

A highly driven, self-motivated individual who takes initiative, follows through and enjoys solving problems, providing real help for customers.

Strong communication and the ability to manage customers, trades and technicians professionally.

A high-performing individual who understands that greater rewards come from consistent effort, strong results and delivering real value to customers.

Enthusiasm for learning specialist repair methods and contributing to a business that challenges conventional thinking.

A current Australian driver’s licence and willingness to travel for assessments and training.
