Buildfix is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Melbourne team. This field role focuses on residential inspections across Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, with autonomy to lead assessments, develop repair scopes and quote homeowners.

• At least five years’ experience covering structural inspections and residential construction design.
• Strong practical knowledge of residential buildings, structural movement and defects.
• The ability to explain technical issues simply, listen carefully and handle challenging customer questions.
• A current Australian driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout the service area.

Full time | Weekly base pay + a share of the jobs you win and manage

You understand buildings. You enjoy working out why something has moved, what caused the damage and how it can be repaired. You also enjoy helping the homeowner understand it.

About the role

You’ll meet homeowners who are often concerned about cracking, movement or uneven floors. They need someone who can listen, investigate and explain what their home needs.

Your ability to educate the customer is just as important as your ability to identify the problem. You’ll explain the cause, talk through suitable repair options and help them understand the benefits, limitations and costs.

You’ll take responsibility for:

Conducting residential structural inspections and diagnosing the causes of damage.

Developing practical, cost-effective repair scopes using Buildfix’s products and methods.

Preparing clear repair details and quotes.

Answering questions, following up recommendations and helping homeowners make informed decisions about proceeding.

Managing the jobs you win, maintaining customer relationships and coordinating with our repair teams.

Keeping your assessments, records and tasks accurate and up to date.

Your main service area will be Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, with travel across greater Melbourne and surrounding areas during busy periods. Occasional interstate travel may also be required, including for specialised training.

This is a field role with plenty of driving, customer contact and independent work.
