Job summary

IKEA Canberra is seeking a Sales Co-worker to help create an inspiring and seamless shopping experience for customers. You will blend friendly customer service with hands-on store tasks to drive sales and satisfaction.

You will approach customers, recommend suitable home furnishing solutions and actively promote the IKEA range while maintaining an inviting and well-organised shopping environment. The role operates on a permanent part-time roster, with a 9:00am–8:30pm window and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

  • Warm, approachable communication style and confidence in interacting with customers.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in merchandising and stock.

Responsibilities

  • Approach customers, understand their needs and recommend suitable home solutions.
  • Actively sell IKEA range and promote services to enhance the customer experience.
  • Keep area clean, stocked, organised and correctly priced.
  • Maintain and refresh displays through basic visual merchandising and stock condensing.
  • Replenish stock and prepare sales spaces with safe manual handling.
  • Assemble products to ensure strong presentation and functionality.
  • Use IKEA systems to provide accurate product information and support order placement.
  • Collaborate with team and other departments to deliver great results.

Additional information:

  • This role is Permanent Part-time (40hrs/fortnight)
  • You will work on a rotating roster between 9:00am - 8:30pm, and 3 out of 4 weekends (both Saturday and Sunday).

Recruitment process:

  • Following shortlisting, candidates will complete a pre-recorded video interview
  • Selected candidates will then attend an in-person interview with the hiring team
About this work area

As a Sales Co-worker, you’ll help create an inspiring and seamless shopping experience for our customers. You’ll combine customer interaction with hands‑on store tasks.

Your responsibilities will include:

Preferred experience:

  • Previous experience in retail, customer service, or showroom sales.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Confidence in supporting sales objectives and contributing to the achievement of targets and KPIs.
