Job summary

Tableland Fertilizer is seeking a dedicated Sales Assistant for our retail team in Atherton, Queensland. This full-time role puts you at the front line of customer service, helping customers find products and delivering knowledgeable guidance on fertilizers and agricultural supplies.

You will process sales, maintain stock and assist with store operations, while building lasting customer relationships and contributing to a safe, welcoming shop floor.

Responsibilities

Tableland Fertilizer is seeking a dedicated Sales Assistant to join our retail team in Atherton, Queensland. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and supporting the day-to-day operations of our retail store. As a Sales Assistant, you will be at the front line of our business, helping customers find the products they need whilst building lasting relationships and driving sales. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for quality service and product expertise in the fertilizer and agricultural supplies sector.

Key responsibilities

Providing friendly, knowledgeable customer service to retail customers, assisting with product selection and answering queries about fertilizers and related products

Processing sales transactions accurately and efficiently using point-of-sale systems

Maintaining a clean, organised and well-stocked retail environment, including shelving products and managing inventory displays

Handling stock receiving and verification, ensuring products are correctly logged and stored

Building positive relationships with customers and identifying opportunities to recommend additional products and services

Supporting the team with general administrative tasks and store operations as required

Assisting with promotional activities and special events to drive customer engagement

Maintaining health and safety standards throughout the store and handling materials safely

What we're looking for

Previous retail or customer service experience, preferably in a sales environment

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse customers

Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and basic computer skills

Reliable, punctual and committed to delivering consistent high-quality service

Physical ability to lift, carry and handle products safely, including standing for extended periods

A willingness to learn about fertilizer products and agricultural practices to provide expert advice

Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues during busy periods

Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and store demands

Knowledge of or interest in agriculture or horticulture is advantageous but not essential

Forklift License or experience preferred
