The location and Lifestyle:

Mt Carbine has a rich history of tungsten production and is strategically and conveniently located only 75 kms from the beautiful seaside town of Port Douglas in Far North Queensland where the Daintree Forest meets the Great Barrier Reef. The Mt Carbine Tungsten mine is 120km North of Cairns International Airport via sealed highway. For those with families, there is a choice of private and public schools, as well as universities and technical education facilities in the region.

About the Role:

Good safety systems only work when the information in them is accurate, current and trusted. In this role you will be the site's specialist for the safety, risk and governance systems that sit behind our Safety and Health Management System, from SAP EHS and the incident management system to risk registers, critical control verification tools and document control. You will keep those systems well configured and well used, help leaders and workers get the most from them, and turn the data into insight. You will also coordinate our occupational health and hygiene program and fitness for work arrangements.

You will work alongside both STR Superintendents and the wider STR team, with the support of administration officers, on a 9-day fortnight roster.

What you’ll do:
  • Administer and improve our safety, risk and governance systems, including SAP EHS, incident management, risk and hazard registers, CCV and inspection tools, and document control
  • Manage system configuration, user access, data quality and audit trails, and train and support system users
  • Monitor how safety and risk systems and processes are applied at the workface, and track actions, audits, inspections and CCVs to closure
  • Maintain the SHMS document library, registers and the Mine Record, and prepare evidence for audits and regulator inspections
  • Assist with preparation for compliance requirements including but not limited to high level investigations, regulatory compliance and Inspectorate audits.
  • Produce clear safety and health reports and dashboards for site leaders
What you’ll bring:
  • Essential: Certificate III or higher in an aligned discipline, such as work health and safety, or risk management
  • Experience administering, maintaining or improving safety, risk or governance systems (essential)
  • Strong data and reporting skills, with advanced Excel and experience in SAP, LAAMP, SharePoint or Power BI highly regarded
  • Mining, quarrying or heavy industry experience (highly regarded)
  • A meticulous, confidential approach to information, and a current Queensland C Class driver's licence
EQR Values in Action for This Role:
  • Act Safe. Feel Safe: speak up, stop if unsafe, and close out hazards.
  • Lead with Integrity: do what you say you will do; be accountable.
  • Buddy Up: strong teamwork, handovers and cross-team coordination.
  • Dig Deep: improve systems, prevent repeat issues, solve problems.
  • Embrace Difference: respect people, roles and perspectives.
  • Tread Lightly: follow environmental controls (dust/water/waste/housekeeping).
What will EQ Resources Provide Me With
  • A 9-day fortnight roster that gives you every second Friday off
  • A key role in building a new Safety, Training and Risk team from the ground up
  • Leaders who value care, honesty and learning, and real support to grow your career in mining
  • Grow your career in mining with real support and development
