Job summary

Alchemy Recruitment Consulting – Mackay QLD is seeking a Safety Specialist for a coal operation in the Bowen Basin. You will lead ICAM investigations, manage injury processes and ensure compliance with the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act.

This 12‑month full‑time FTC offers a 9‑day fortnight and options for DIDO or living locally. Reporting to the Health & Safety Superintendent, you will drive risk management, assist with budgets and continually improve SHMS implementation on site.

Qualifications

• Qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety or Occupational Hygiene.
• Previous experience in a Health & Safety role.
• Demonstrated experience leading ICAM investigations.
• Experience with injury management, workplace rehabilitation and RTW programs.
• Strong knowledge of mine site H&S requirements and the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulation.
• Proactive leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Resources or mining industry experience is advantageous but not essential.

About the Opportunity

We are recruiting a Safety Specialist for an established open-cut coal operation in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. Reporting to the Health & Safety Superintendent, you will provide direction to the site Health and Safety team and oversee compliance with the Safety and Health Management System and the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulation. This is a 12-month fixed term, full-time role.
