Job summary

Alchemy Recruitment Consulting – Mackay QLD is seeking a Safety Specialist for a coal operation in the Bowen Basin. You will lead ICAM investigations, manage injury processes and ensure compliance with the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act.

This 12‑month full‑time FTC offers a 9‑day fortnight and options for DIDO or living locally. Reporting to the Health & Safety Superintendent, you will drive risk management, assist with budgets and continually improve SHMS implementation on site.

Qualifications

• Qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety or Occupational Hygiene.
• Previous experience in a Health & Safety role.
• Demonstrated experience leading ICAM investigations.
• Experience with injury management, workplace rehabilitation and RTW programs.
• Strong knowledge of mine site H&S requirements and the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulation.
• Proactive leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Resources or mining industry experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead ICAM investigations, incident investigations and corrective action tracking.
• Facilitate risk management and risk assessment processes.
• Coordinate injury management, rehabilitation and return to work, liaising with medical professionals and service providers.
• Ensure site compliance with the SHMS and statutory obligations.
• Develop standards, procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the site H&S team and assist with planning and operational budgets.
