Job summary

Working In Australia is seeking an experienced Fitter with rope-access qualifications to join its specialist team in Rockhampton, delivering welding, installation, maintenance and repair services across Queensland and New South Wales.

The role involves reading drawings, assembling and aligning mechanical components, and servicing hydraulic and pneumatic systems at heights using rope-access techniques. Travel to project sites and relocation to Rockhampton may be required.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering‑ Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining) or equivalent.
• Experience in assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and technical specifications.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, workshop machinery and precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings, technical plans and specs to determine installation and maintenance requirements.

Are you an experienced Fitter with rope-access qualifications or relevant rope-access experience?

Our client is seeking skilled Fitters to join its specialist team, delivering welding, installation, maintenance and repair services in challenging industrial environments across Queensland and New South Wales.

Successful candidates will be based in, or willing to relocate to, Rockhampton and must be available to travel to project sites as required.

About the role

As a Fitter, you will be responsible for joining, repairing and maintaining metal components and structures using appropriate Fitting processes. Some work will be undertaken at heights using rope-access techniques.

• Interpret engineering drawings, technical plans and specifications to determine installation, assembly and maintenance requirements.
• Assemble, fit and align mechanical components, equipment and machinery to required standards and tolerances.

Skills and experience

To be considered for this position, you should have:

• Relevant trade qualification like Certificate III in Engineering‑ Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining), or equivalent.
• Proven experience in the assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and technical specifications.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
