Job summary

FMS Group is seeking a Mechanical Fitter based in Mackay & Coalfields to perform planned maintenance and breakdown work on mining equipment in the Bowen Basin. You will bring Rope Machine experience, strong fault-finding, and a commitment to safety, with the ability to work autonomously or in a team.

Relating to the successful applicant, you will hold a relevant trade qualification, coal board medical, and a current driver’s licence, plus standard safety certifications.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification is required.
• Experience on heavy machinery is essential.
• Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 are required.
• Current driver’s licence and safety certifications are necessary.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.
• Ability to liaise with management and clients and meet site requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned maintenance and breakdown work across mining equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs.

About the Role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for performing a range of planned maintenance and breakdown work across mining equipment. No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and working in a dynamic mining environment.

About You

• Previous Rope Machine experience – essential
• Mining and/or heavy mobile equipment experience
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience with maintenance and breakdown repairs
• Strong commitment to safety
• Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
