Job summary

Spectra Ingenuity is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Fitter to support the development, assembly, and deployment of bespoke mechanical systems. You will collaborate with our Engineering and Field Operations teams, and travel to client sites from our Brisbane HQ and Toowoomba base as required.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Fitter and Turner or Mechanical Fitter
• Experience in mechanical assembly and maintenance
• Proficient MIG/TIG welding for non-structural tasks
• Basic knowledge of automotive or low-voltage wiring
• Current HR (Heavy Rigid) driver's license
• Forklift and/or dogging ticket (desirable)
• Hands-on, proactive approach with strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

Job description

Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working closely with our Engineering and Field Operations teams, you will support the development, assembly, and deployment of innovative mechanical systems and field equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Mechanical assembly, fitting, and maintenance of bespoke equipment and systems
• Performing non-structural welding and fabrication tasks as required
• Assisting with basic automotive wiring and electrical integration
• Supporting prototype builds and field installations
• Interpreting mechanical drawings and schematics
• Conducting equipment testing and verification prior to deployment
• Participating in site visits and field work at our Toowoomba base and client locations
• Maintaining a high standard of safety and quality in line with ISO 9001 and APIQ2 standards

About you

• Trade qualification as a Fitter and Turner, Mechanical Fitter, or similar
• Demonstrated experience in mechanical assembly and maintenance
• Confidence in MIG/TIG welding for non-structural applications
• Basic knowledge of automotive or low-voltage wiring
