Room Leader/ Diploma Educator

Job summary

Little Leapers is seeking a Room Leader to guide daily room operations and lead a team of educators. You will model best practice, coordinate staff, ensure safe routines, and drive curriculum aligned with EYLF v2.0 and the Little Leapers philosophy.

You will build respectful partnerships with families, monitor supervision and documentation, and escalate concerns promptly. A Diploma in ECEC and valid checks are required for this senior role.

Qualifications

• ACECQA-approved Diploma-level early childhood education and care qualification.
• Current Working With Children Check and any other required screening/registration.
• Current approved first aid, anaphylaxis and emergency asthma management qualifications where required.
• Completion of required national child safety and jurisdiction-approved child protection training.
• Strong working knowledge of EYLF v2.0, NQS, National Law and Regulations, active supervision and mandatory reporting responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Model and actively enforce Little Leapers' Child Safe Code of Conduct and child protection, supervision, interactions, complaints, digital technology and online safety requirements.
• Maintain a child-safe culture in the room where children are listened to, respected and supported to express concerns, preferences and boundaries.
• Ensure active supervision is planned and maintained across indoor/outdoor environments, transitions, meals, sleep/rest, toileting/nappy change and higher-risk activities.
• Identify supervision blind spots, staffing gaps, unsafe practices or environmental hazards and take immediate corrective action or elevate to the Nominated Supervisor.
• Provide clear daily direction, allocate responsibilities fairly and ensure all educators understand who is responsible for supervision zones, routines, documentation and transitions.
• Lead implementation of a high-quality educational program aligned with EYLF v2.0, the Little Leapers philosophy and children's strengths, interests, identities, cultures, abilities and family goals.
• Coordinate the full planning cycle: observe/listen, analyse learning, plan, implement, document, evaluate/reflect and extend.
• Know the number and identity of children in the room and maintain awareness of arrivals, departures, transitions and authorised collection arrangements.
• Monitor educator-to-child ratios and immediately notify the responsible person before staffing movements create a ratio or supervision concern.
• Ensure required room records are accurate, timely, legible and stored/entered according to service procedures.

Job description

The Room Leader is a senior educator responsible for the day-to-day leadership of an allocated room. About you

• An ACECQA-approved Diploma-level early childhood education and care qualification, or other qualification/status accepted by Little Leapers and permitted under applicable requirements for the position
• Current Working With Children Check and any other required screening/registration
• Current approved first aid, anaphylaxis and emergency asthma management qualifications where required
• Completion of required national child safety and jurisdiction-approved child protection training within applicable timeframes
• Strong working knowledge of EYLF v2.0, NQS, National Law and Regulations, active supervision, child protection and mandatory reporting responsibilities
