Job summary

Fortescue is seeking a Roller Technician at Cloudbreak, WA, to maintain and align conveyor rollers, ensuring safe operation of conveyor systems. The role is FIFO from Perth with a 7D/7N/14R roster and travel to remote Western Australia sites.

You will inspect, replace, and fault diagnose idler sets, support maintenance shutdowns, and work with teams to improve reliability while prioritising safety and site procedures.

Qualifications

• Qualified mechanical trade or equivalent experience.
• Proven conveyors/idler systems fault-finding skills.
• Mining or heavy industry experience preferred.
• Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

Our Opportunity

Work Location: Cloudbreak - located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples

Roster: 7D/7N/14R - FIFO ex Perth, Busselton, Broome, Karratha, Port Hedland, Fitzroy Crossing and Kununurra

Cloudbreak is seeking a Roller Technician to maintain, replace and align conveyor rollers (idlers), ensuring safe and efficient operation of conveyor systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and replace conveyor rollers (idler sets)
• Identify and rectify seized, damaged or misaligned rollers
• Maintain roller frames, stands and associated components
• Perform preventative maintenance on conveyor roller systems
• Support shutdown and breakdown works focused on rollers
• Monitor conveyor performance and identify roller-related faults
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and site procedures
• Work closely with maintenance teams to optimise reliability

Qualifications And Experience

• Relevant mechanical trade qualification (or similar experience)
• Proven experience with conveyor rollers and idler systems
• Strong fault-finding skills on rotating equipment
• Experience in mining or heavy industry environments
• Understanding of conveyor systems (roller-focused)
• Ability to work autonomously and within a team
• Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement
• Current Australian Driver’s Licence
