Job summary

Fortescue is seeking a Heavy-Duty Fitter for the Solomon mine, with FIFO from Perth on a 7D/7N/14R roster. You will support planned shutdowns across diggers, drills and heavy mobile equipment, performing inspections, repairs and fault diagnosis to keep operations safe and productive.

Join a high‑volume maintenance team, working to schedules and quality standards while adhering to Fortescue safety and environmental procedures.

Qualifications

• Australian-recognised trade certificate as a Heavy-Duty Fitter or Diesel Mechanic.

Responsibilities

• Complete shutdown maintenance on diggers, drills and heavy mobile equipment
• Carry out inspections, repairs and component replacements
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
• Work to shutdown schedules and maintenance plans
• Complete tasks safely, efficiently and to a high standard
• Support breakdowns and additional maintenance activities as required
• Maintain accurate work records and communicate job progress

Our Opportunity

Location: Solomon - Fortescue's Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

Roster: 7D/7N/14R - FIFO ex Perth

As a Heavy-Duty Fitter within the Shutdown Team, you will support the safe and efficient execution of planned maintenance activities across diggers, drills and associated heavy mobile equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete shutdown maintenance on diggers, drills and heavy mobile equipment
• Carry out inspections, repairs and component replacements
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
• Work to shutdown schedules and maintenance plans
• Complete tasks safely, efficiently and to a high standard
• Support breakdowns and additional maintenance activities as required
• Maintain accurate work records and communicate job progress
• Follow Fortescue safety, environmental and operational procedures

Qualifications And Experience

• Australian-recognised trade certificate as a Heavy-Duty Fitter, Diesel Mechanic or Mobile Plant Equipment
• Experience maintaining diggers, drills or similar heavy mobile equipment
• Previous mining or heavy industry experience
• Strong mechanical and hydraulic fault-finding skills
• Shutdown maintenance experience is highly regarded
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced team environment
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Current Australian working rights and relevant site qualifications
