Job summary

Warrumbungle Shire Council seeks an experienced Manager Roads to lead the operational delivery of the 2,518km road network across regional NSW. Reporting to the Director Infrastructure Services, you will supervise engineers, supervisors and staff, oversee budgets, procurement and external contracts.

This hands-on leadership role offers a generous remuneration package of $180,000–$209,000 including allowances, relocation assistance up to $7,500, and housing options, with flexible hybrid working

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Experience managing roads maintenance programs, ideally in local government or similar infrastructure environment.
• Strong understanding of rural road maintenance practices, especially unsealed networks.
• Proven leadership, team development and performance management.
• Financial acumen in budgets, procurement and contracts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Roads team and foster a safety-focused culture.
• Oversee sealed and unsealed road maintenance programs for safe, efficient service delivery.
• Manage operational budgets, resources and forward works programs, including contractor coordination.
• Oversee RMCC contract with Transport for NSW and maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Oversee procurement, tendering and contractor performance.
• Support disaster recovery and regional energy transition infrastructure needs.
• Build relationships across Council, government agencies and the community.
