Job summary

Walgett Shire Council is seeking a Roads Engineer to take road projects from investigation through to construction and completion. You will plan, design and deliver improvements across the local and regional road network, coordinating with Council crews, contractors and Transport for NSW to ensure safe, value-for-money outcomes.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline relevant to road and civil infrastructure engineering.
• Experience investigating, designing, coordinating or delivering road, pavement, drainage or civil infrastructure works.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, construction contracts, estimates and project documentation.
• Working knowledge of road construction and maintenance, quality assurance, work health and safety, traffic management and environmental controls.
• Strong project coordination, contract administration, record keeping and financial monitoring skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical matters to different audiences.
• Ability to organise competing priorities, work independently in the field and raise risks promptly.
• A current Class C driver licence and Construction Induction Card.

Responsibilities

• Take road projects from investigation and planning through to construction and completion.
• Help improve the roads that connect Walgett Shire’s communities, farms and essential services.
• Plan and deliver improvements across the Shire’s local and regional road network.
• Contribute to funding applications, claims and reporting for funded works.
• Coordinate with Council crews, contractors, consultants and Transport for NSW to deliver works.
