Job summary

Walgett Shire Council invites applications for a Roads Engineer to plan and deliver improvements across the local and regional road network. You will be involved from investigation through to design, coordinating delivery with Council crews, contractors and Transport for NSW.

The role includes field work, project planning and technical tasks, with contributions to funding applications, scopes and estimates. Relocation assistance and shared housing may be available.

Qualifications

• A civil engineering degree or equivalent is required.
• Experience in investigation, design, coordination or delivery of road, pavement, drainage or civil works.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, specs, contracts and estimates.
• Working knowledge of road construction, maintenance, QA, WHS, traffic management and environmental controls.
• Strong project coordination, contract administration, record keeping and financial monitoring.
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to explain technical matters.
• Ability to organise priorities, work in the field and raise risks promptly.
• Current Class C driver licence and Construction Induction Card (White Card).

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver improvements across the Shire’s road network.
• Investigate problems, assess options and develop designs.
• Coordinate delivery with Council crews, contractors, consultants and Transport for NSW.
• Contribute to funding applications, claims and reporting for funded works.
• Assess road conditions, set priorities, prepare scopes and estimates.
• Monitor construction and keep projects on track.
• Support coordinated delivery across RMCC and Capital Works Coordinators.
