Job summary

EML, Australia’s leading personal injury claims management specialist, is seeking a Return to Work Specialist in Melbourne on a permanent, full-time basis. You will guide claims teams and case managers to achieve safe, sustainable RTW outcomes, leveraging your injury management expertise.

Hybrid work options are available after probation, with a strong focus on collaborative rehabilitation, stakeholder engagement and professional development within a purpose-driven team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in workers compensation and injury management.
• Ability to engage injured workers, employers, and health professionals for positive outcomes.
• Experience identifying barriers to return to work and developing practical strategies.
• Sound understanding of workers compensation legislation and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist guidance on claims management and RTW strategy.
• Collaborate with Case Managers to achieve safe, sustainable RTW outcomes.
• Engage with Occupational Rehabilitation providers to support RTW for injured workers.
• Advise on complex claims and RTW activities with external stakeholders.

We’re now welcoming applications for a Return to Work Specialist to join our supportive, purpose‑driven team in Melbourne on a permanent, full time basis. What You’ll Be Doing

• Provide specialist assistance and guidance to team members regarding all facets of claims management strategy.
• Provide hands on support to claims teams, partner with Case Managers to work towards safe and sustainable RTW outcomes.
• Undertake discussions with case managers to ensure soundly based rehabilitation & RTW goals are established to allow for focused RTW activity.
• Maintain engagement with Occupational Rehabilitation providers to ensure collaboration around safe and sustainable RTW for injured workers.
• Provide specialist advice on complex claims strategy as well as undertaking RTW activities, inclusive of direct engagement with external stakeholders.
• Review and provide feedback on current claims management practices, ensuring emerging trends are identified and managed.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in workers compensation is essential, with a strong background in injury management and supporting safe, sustainable return to work outcomes.
• Strong relationship‑building skills, with the ability to engage injured workers, employers, treating health professionals and internal teams to support positive outcomes.
• Experience identifying barriers to return to work and developing practical strategies to overcome them.
• Sound understanding of relevant workers compensation legislation, regulations and guidelines, with the ability to interpret and apply them in practise.
• Experience providing training, coaching and specialist advice to strengthen the capability of claims teams.
• Tertiary qualifications in Allied Health, including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work or Exercise Science, are highly regarded.
