Job summary

HXC Contracting Co Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled post installer for our civil and commercial concrete sleeper retaining-wall projects across South East Queensland. This dedicated role involves setting out posts, reading wall drawings and coordinating concrete pours alongside our crews.

You will operate excavators, verify post positions, ensure correct spacing and alignment, and maintain QA photos. An excavator ticket, proven precision installation experience and a White Card are essential.

Several positions for Northside, and Southside crews in Beaudesert, Ipswich and Lockyer Valley

Casual | Monday–Friday

Hourly rate based on experience and demonstrated capability, plus super and applicable entitlements.

HXC Contracting Co is looking for a skilled post installer for our civil and commercial concrete sleeper retaining-wall projects across South East Queensland.

You may already build retaining walls, install commercial fencing or work in formwork and civil set‑out. If you can work accurately from drawings, use levels confidently and operate an excavator, your skills could fit. We can teach you HXC’s wall‑specific construction sequence.

THE ROLE

This is a dedicated post installation and set‑out role, working alongside our drilling and sleeper installation crews.

Your work will include:

Reading wall drawings and setting out post positions from supplied survey marks, offsets and levels.

Using laser levels and stringlines to control alignment, heights and wall steps.

Checking post sizes, lengths and pier readiness before installation.

Operating excavators and working with the ground crew to position steel posts safely.

Setting posts to the correct spacing, orientation, height and specified lean.

Coordinating concrete placement and checking post positions before, during and after the pour.

Raising drawing or site conflicts early and completing basic measurements and QA photographs.

Must be able to keep up pace with the rest of the crew. Good preparation and accurate posting keep the whole crew moving and leave the sleeper installers ready to build.

WHAT YOU BRING

Excavator ticket or recognised statement of attainment—required.

Demonstrated excavator operating competency.

Proven posting, set‑out or comparable precision installation experience.

Confidence reading construction drawings and working with laser levels, stringlines, offsets and reduced levels (RLs).

Construction White Card, current driver licence and reliable transport.

Clear communication, care for equipment and ability to travel between SEQ project locations.

You must be able to check your own work and recognise when something needs clarification before proceeding. Tickets and practical competency will be verified before independent operation of HXC plant.
