Job summary

HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an experienced Retail Sales Assistant to join our Campbell, ACT team, serving visitors and helping them find gifts and keepsakes.

You'll work in a busy, customer-focused environment with weekend shifts, strong product knowledge, and the ability to work independently when required. Australian citizenship is a requirement for this Federal Government context.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail, hospitality or a customer-facing role.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong POS and EFTPOS fluency with cash-handling experience.
• Ability to stay calm, organised and task-focused in a busy environment.
• Professional presentation and rapport with visitors.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, professional and engaging customer service.

• Develop strong product and subject knowledge to confidently answer customer questions.
• Promote products and support sales targets through knowledgeable and engaging selling.

• Assist with stock control, replenishment and visual merchandising.
• Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming retail environment.
• Prioritise customer service while keeping on top of daily tasks and responsibilities.
• Work confidently and independently during unsupervised shifts, particularly on weekends.

About the Role As a Retail Sales Assistant, you’ll be one of the friendly faces welcoming visitors and helping them find meaningful products and keepsakes.

• The confidence to work autonomously and use initiative when management is not on site.
• A flexible and reliable approach to work, including weekend availability.
• An interest in Australian history, military history or national institutions is highly desirable.
• An ability to quickly develop product and subject knowledge and communicate it naturally with customers.
