Job summary

Totally Workwear Port Stephens in Taylors Beach is seeking a friendly Retail Assistant to join our Port Stephens store on a full-time permanent basis. You will be the face of the Totally Workwear brand, delivering outstanding customer service while helping customers find the right workwear, PPE, footwear, and branding solutions.

Work closely with the Store Manager to support operations, hit sales targets, manage stock, and maintain an inviting store presentation in a small team.

We’re currently looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, and customer-focused Retail Assistant to join our team on a full-time permanent basis in our Port Stephens store located at Taylors Beach, NSW.

About the Role

This is not just a Retail Sales Assistant.. In this role you will be the face of the Totally Workwear brand, providing exceptional customer service and helping customers find the right workwear, safety equipment, footwear, uniforms, and branding solutions to meet their needs.

Working closely with the Store Manager, you will play a key role in supporting operations, achieving sales targets, maintaining store presentation, managing stock, and delivering a positive shopping experience and learning about retail operations and management within a small team.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys talking with people, thrives in a fast-paced retail environment, and takes pride in delivering outstanding customer service and interested in focusing on growth and willingness to learn.

What You’ll Be Doing

Customer Service

• Providing friendly and professional service in-store, over the phone, and via email.
• Assisting customers with selecting workwear, PPE, footwear, and uniform solutions.
• Processing sales transactions, customer orders, and enquiries.
• Supporting customers with logo application, embroidery, and branding requests.
• Building strong relationships with trade, business, and retail customers.
• Identifying customer needs and recommending suitable products.
• Upselling and cross-selling complementary products and services.
• Contributing to daily and monthly sales targets.
• Maintaining strong knowledge of product ranges, promotions, and industry developments.

Store Operations

• Receiving and processing stock deliveries.
• Entering products and supplier invoices accurately into company systems.
• Maintaining store presentation, merchandising, and stock levels.
• Following store procedures and safety requirements.

Inventory Management

• Monitoring and replenishing stock levels.
• Assisting with stocktakes and inventory accuracy.
• Rotating stock and maintaining organised storage areas.

Team Contribution

• Working collaboratively with team members to achieve store goals.
• Participating in team meetings and training programs.
• Supporting new team members and sharing product knowledge.
• Contributing to a positive and energetic workplace culture.

About You

• We are looking for someone who:
• Has the right to work in Australia to fulfill the requirements of this role
• Loves working with customers and delivering excellent service
• Has previous retail, customer service, trade, or sales experience (preferred but not essential)
• Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
• Is confident communicating with a wide range of customers
• Has strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Can learn technical product information and confidently provide advice
• Takes initiative and works well both independently and as part of a team
• Has basic computer skills and experience using retail or point-of-sale systems
• Is reliable, positive, and ready to roll up their sleeves
• Ability to be trainable and coachable and to learn more as our stores grow.

Bonus Points If You Have

• Experience in workwear, PPE, uniforms, safety equipment, footwear, or trade-related products.
• Experience with embroidery, screen printing, branding, or promotional products.
• Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and PPE standards.
• Certificate III in Retail or a related training.
