Job summary

Cleanaway is seeking a motivated MRF Leading Hand to join our operations team in Perth, WA. This role focuses on safety, operational excellence and leading by example in a fast-paced recycling environment.

Reporting to the MRF Supervisor, you will direct and support a team, ensure safe processing of materials, and drive daily productivity. The position is permanent full-time with shift pattern 1:30pm–11pm, reflecting site needs.

Qualifications

• Experience in waste, recycling, manufacturing or processing operations.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience in an operational environment.
• Strong commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental standards.
• Excellent communication and team leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate MRF operators and processing staff to support efficient daily operations.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with site procedures and HSE requirements.
• Monitor processing activities to maximise productivity and material recovery.
• Conduct and assist with pre-start inspections, ensuring plant and equipment are operated safely.
• Train, mentor and support team members to build capability and performance.
• Identify operational issues and work with the management team to implement practical solutions.
• Maintain high housekeeping and site presentation standards.
• Complete daily operational records, inspections and reporting.
• Support maintenance activities and help minimise plant downtime.
