Job summary

MCA Engineering in Newcastle, NSW, seeks a Project Engineer - Mechatronics & Automation to lead integration of machinery and automation on a new engineering project. You will work with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and automation systems, developing concepts and basic 3D CAD models, and coordinating suppliers and site teams from design through testing.

Remote work may be considered, with attendance at the Thornton branch required during the contract.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechatronics or related engineering with automation experience.
• Experience integrating machinery and automation systems in industrial settings.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and low‑voltage controls.
• Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, sensors and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop concepts, layouts and system requirements for projects.
• Coordinate mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and automation components.
• Create basic 3D CAD models to communicate concepts.
• Review drawings and electrical control information.
• Coordinate activities, schedules and technical deliverables.
• Engage with suppliers to assess options and requirements.
• Support testing, commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to safety and maintainability improvements.
