Job summary

MCA Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer – Mechatronics & Automation to help develop and integrate machinery across an engineering project. You will collaborate with our engineering, workshop and project teams to translate requirements into practical, safe solutions, combining mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and automation elements.

You will design preliminary concepts, produce basic 3D CAD models, review drawings, coordinate with suppliers and support testing, commissioning and handover

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechatronics Engineering, or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with relevant automation and integration experience.
• Experience working with machinery, equipment integration or industrial automation.
• Sound understanding of hydraulic systems and low-voltage electrical controls.
• Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, sensors and instrumentation.
• Ability to develop preliminary designs and produce basic 3D CAD models.
• Experience coordinating engineering projects, suppliers and technical deliverables.
• Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to work closely with engineers and trades.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary concepts, equipment layouts and system requirements.
• Support the integration of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and automation components.
• Create basic 3D CAD models to communicate concepts, equipment arrangements and clearances.
• Review technical drawings, hydraulic schematics and electrical control information.
• Coordinate project activities, schedules, deliverables and technical documentation.
• Liaise with engineering, workshop and site teams to resolve technical issues.
• Support testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of integrated machinery.
• Contribute to design risk assessments and identify practical improvements to safety, operation and maintainability.
