Job summary

MCA Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer - Mechatronics & Automation to support development and integration of machinery on a new engineering project.

You will translate requirements into practical solutions, combining mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and automation components with basic 3D CAD modelling, coordinating with suppliers and site teams.

Remote work can be considered, with occasional visits to the Thornton branch during the 3-month contract.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with machinery integration or industrial automation.
• Understanding of hydraulic systems and low-voltage controls.
• Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, sensors and instrumentation.
• Ability to develop preliminary designs and basic 3D CAD models.
• Experience coordinating engineering projects and suppliers.
• Practical problem-solving and teamwork with engineers and trades.

About the Role

We are seeking a Project Engineer - Mechatronics & Automation to support the development and integration of machinery and equipment across a new engineering project.

Working closely with our engineering, workshop and project teams, you will help translate project requirements into practical solutions, bringing together mechanical equipment, hydraulic systems, low-voltage controls and automation.

The role combines preliminary design and basic 3D CAD modelling with project coordination, supplier engagement and technical support throughout fabrication, installation and testing.

Remote working arrangements will be considered, provided you are available to attend our Thornton branch on several occasions during the 3 month contract.

Key Responsibilities

About You

• Degree qualified in Mechatronics Engineering, or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with relevant automation and integration experience.
• Experience working with machinery, equipment integration or industrial automation.
• Sound understanding of hydraulic systems and low-voltage electrical controls.
• Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, sensors and instrumentation.
• Ability to develop preliminary designs and produce basic 3D CAD models.
• Experience coordinating engineering projects, suppliers and technical deliverables.
• Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to work closely with engineers and trades.
