Job summary

City of Boroondara is seeking Relief Librarians to support our network of libraries across Melbourne's eastern suburbs. The casual role offers variety, working across multiple sites with weekday and weekend shifts.

You will deliver frontline customer service, provide readers' advisory and information services, assist with collection presentation and merchandising, and help with daily library operations. A tertiary qualification for ALIA membership is required.

Qualifications

• ALIA eligible tertiary qualification required.
• Experience working in a library environment, preferably public library.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to assist customers with digital technology and information tools.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, support and mentor staff.
• Strong computer skills including web-based technologies.

Responsibilities

• Deliver frontline customer service in person, by phone and online.
• Provide readers' advisory, reference and information services.
• Promote library collections, digital resources, programs and events.
• Support library operations, including opening/closing procedures and cash handling.
• Assist with collection presentation, stock management and merchandising.
• Supervise service delivery when rostered as Day Senior.
• Work collaboratively across library locations to meet service needs.
