Job summary

Banana Shire Council in Queensland is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to assist in administering Local Laws and animal management enforcement. You will investigate, issue notices, and provide accurate guidance to residents and businesses.

Qualifications

• Mandatory Queensland C class driver’s licence (provisional acceptable)
• Blue Card – Working with Children Check
• Certificate IV in Government Investigations or equivalent qualification/experience (or commitment to obtain)
• Desirable: Qld General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) Certification

Responsibilities

• Investigate and enforce provisions of Council Local Laws and Animal Management Act 2008
• Provide accurate information and advice on compliance issues to customers
• Respond to service requests and complaints through investigation, questioning, interviewing, and conflict management
• Draft, issue and enforce statutory notices and gather evidence for lawful proceedings
• Participate in on-call roster and assist with note-taking and evidence databases
• Educate public regarding relevant legislation and compliance expectations
• Undertake inspections for compliance and assist with impoundment facilities and compliance registers
• Assist in preparation of reports and maintenance of Local Laws procedures
• Liaise with community, government agencies and industry groups as required
• Undertake other duties as directed consistent with skills and training
