Job summary

Banana Shire Council is seeking a Compliance Investigator to assist in administering regulatory functions across the shire. You will enforce Local Laws and animal management provisions, provide guidance to residents, and conduct inspections with a focus on lawful outcomes.

The role requires on-site work, travel within the shire, and participation in on-call rosters, with strong communication and negotiation skills essential for public interaction.

Qualifications

• Compulsory: Queensland C class driver's licence (provisional acceptable).
• Blue Card – Working with Children Check.
• Certificate IV in Government Investigations or equivalent qualification/experience.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and enforce Local Laws and Animal Management provisions as required.
• Provide accurate information and advice on compliance to customers.
• Respond to service requests and complaints using investigation and negotiation skills.
• Draft, issue and enforce statutory notices and gather evidence.
• Participate in on-call roster and maintain notes and evidence.
• Educate the public on relevant legislation and compliance expectations.
• Undertake inspections and assist with compliance processes and reports.
