Job summary

Serco is seeking a Casual Registered Paramedic to join Clarence Correctional Centre in Lavadia, NSW, a unique healthcare setting where no two days are the same.

You’ll deliver frontline clinical care across the facility within a multidisciplinary team, handling emergencies and primary care in a secure environment, while developing skills in correctional and rural healthcare. This role offers exposure to diverse clinical cases and the chance to make a real difference in offender healthcare.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Paramedic.
• Experience in emergency, pre-hospital or acute care.
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Respond to medical emergencies and provide clinical assessment.
• Provide acute and primary healthcare within your scope of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments as required.
• Support patients with chronic and ongoing health needs.
• Work alongside nurses, GPs and allied health professionals.
• Communicate with custodial staff to support coordinated patient care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient confidentiality.

Join the dedicated Health Services team at Clarence Correctional Centre as a Casual Registered Paramedic and use your clinical skills in a unique healthcare setting where no two days are the same.

You’ll work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, providing emergency and primary healthcare to patients within a secure and structured environment.

Where You’ll Be Working

Clarence Correctional Centre is located in Lavadia, just outside Grafton in the Northern Rivers of NSW.

As Australia’s largest correctional centre, Clarence provides a unique opportunity to work within a large onsite healthcare service alongside experienced nurses, GPs and allied health professionals.

Located approximately 6 hours from Sydney and 3.5 hours from Brisbane, Grafton offers the opportunity to enjoy a relaxed regional lifestyle while continuing to develop your clinical career.

About The Role

As a Casual Registered Paramedic, you’ll provide frontline clinical care across the facility, responding to emergencies and supporting patients with acute and ongoing healthcare needs.

You’ll be able to draw on your paramedic experience while developing your skills in primary and correctional healthcare.

We’re looking for a confident and adaptable Paramedic who can remain calm under pressure and work effectively as part of a team.

You’ll Need

• Current AHPRA registration as a Paramedic
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
• Experience in emergency, pre-hospital or acute care
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• A professional and patient-centred approach

Experience in correctional, rural, remote or primary healthcare will be highly regarded, but isn't essential.
